Pegasus German Trucks Attachments

Missing from the kit are headlights and blackout convoy lights, not a big thing and probably as the war progressed these would be in short supply, but they can make the truck look a little naked.
I raided the spares box and came up with two blackout convoy lights and a section of sprue that looked the part for a basic set of headlights.
A quick glue and they are attached and really do make a visual difference to the truck. I could not find any tools to place on the truck which is a little disappointing but time to move onto the painting.

Pegasus German Army Trucks Construction

2 minutes to remove from the sprue tree, nice and flash free.
Driver, steering wheel and cabin construction. Hans has no hands.
Wheel and axle assembly, light years ahead of Airfix and ESCI/Italeri counterparts, one minute from start to finish.
Wheels on chassis and cabin inside construction, again this truck builds itself.
Truck body and deck, this simply drops onto the chassis without any hassle.
Completion minus the deck tarpaulin, 15 minutes including drying time, ok I am impressed!

Matchbox Sdkfz 232 More from Dave...

With his airbrush back working Dave is on a roll!
Simple clean lines and a racecar appearance make the 232 stand out. Nice extra details such as the bicycle really make a difference.
Cheers again Dave.

Matchbox Krupp Protez ''ah la Dave''

While most of us are enjoying a well earned break over the Christmas period Dave is slaving away continuing his Classic Matchbox Collection, and what a nice bit of work it is...
The Krupp Protez is a lovely gem from the Matchbox stable and Dave has probably spent as much time on the diorama base as the kit.
Original decals were used in this kit and a airbrush was used for the painting. Cheers Dave.

Pegasus German Trucks: From Spanky

Last night my friend Dave sent me a few pics of his Pegasus German Trucks that he had built. Funnily enough we both got the set from our other mate Phil as birthday presents.
Good use of the airbrush on these kits, cheers Spanky.

Pegasus German Trucks ''Christmas Blitz''

Ok, its Christmas morning and here I am posting a blog about a German Army Truck...A creature of habit I was awake at 5 this morning and am currently on stag duty at the Christmas tree, awaiting the rush from the young masters direction. So what better time to review Pegasus German Army Trucks fast build set. To me the vehicle looks like an Opel Blitz Kfz 305 4x2 3 tonne truck, but with General Motors probably wanting a slice of the action in terms of copyright Pegasus have struck with a generic name, and after all Daimler Benz AG built them to after the Opel plant was destroyed by bombing in 1944 by the RAF. Over a 100,000 units were produced and the truck was given a legend like persona by the men who operated them during the war. Above we have the chassis which is nicely detailed and made with strength in mind.
Truck body and rear deck, compared to the old ESCI/Italeri Blitz this ones a beauty.
Wheels come next and theses are well detailed and the hubs are far stronger looking than the Airfix axles (Of which I have had problems with in the past.).
Tail flap, Drivers compartment and deck tarp, simple and well moulded.
Driver!!! It is nice to actually get a figure to put in the cab, well done Pegasus!
And lastly the instructions, clear and logical. With 15 parts per truck and 2 truck per box this is a great vehicle set for wargamers. Bad points, no decals...if you have a ESCI/Italeri Blitz this won't be a issue as you get decals for 3 trucks, so plenty of spares. Basic detailing...no lights, or tools...spare parts bin should be able to help here. Christmas project set...

And Now Back To Your Scheduled Programming

Phew, madness over the last week or so and blogging has been last on the list of items to fit into the ''To Do List''.

Work finished yesterday and my 6 Day, 11 hour workload with it...most pleased about that, recession my arse! Most Xmas shopping completed, I think...Food in pantry and liquid supplies gathered...and sampled...hic...Cook working...heh!

I have also managed to squeeze in two Qualification Shoots, and a End of Year Parade, but missed the young Master's School Concert...he forgives me and I have it on tape. Elder boy's 21st Birthday last weekend as well which was quite hassle free.

Looking forward to nice Christmas fare tomorrow, and as my tradition dictates a Classic War Movie tonight, ''Where Eagles Dare'' I suspect.

Merry Christmas to you all!!!

Airfix Multipose German

Dave has been busy with his Airfix Multipose 1/32 Scale Germans.
Nice detail Dave has acheived on these troops, helmet covers look great.
Typical Officers...Posers the lot of them.
Great wash and basing. Static grass looks a treat.
Airfix seemed to be at the top of their game when they released these.
Natural and fluid looking poses.
Too bad they did not scale them down for the 1/76 range.
Its been a long time since Dave has sent me some pictures, but I can see he has been busy.
I am really impressed with these and will look at picking up a set...just for a rainy day of course. Cheers Dave, awesome work.

Birthday Booze Blues

Like most of the blogs I follow, I have noticed a slowdown in items published. With Christmas on the way and a heavy workload needed to be wrapped up before hand I am finding myself pushed for time on the plastic front. Still it was my birthday yesterday and after a few drinks at work I arrived home to find that Cook had prepared my favourite dish, Bacon and Egg Pie with mushy peas. So after a few more drinks I allowed myself to open the Pegasus German Army Trucks set my mate Chintz had got me.
First impressions are good, and I am looking forward to getting stuck into these over the break. Still my head was a little heavy this morning, so I must put in some more practice before breakup day.

Operation Aintree Endex

It was at this point Phil realised that quantity has a quality all of its own, although his Panthers
held all the cards in term of armour and gun power, he could not outmatch the maneuver aspects of two Troops of Shermans on the hunt. One Troop held him in position, while my second Troop outflanked and attacked from the rear into the weaker armour. One more Panther sent to cat heaven! With most of his assets burning, Phil decided to go for broke and decided to attack my weaker armoured Tank Destroyers, with the luck of Murphy he rolled a one...miss...which straight after his turn led to this Panthers destruction, by two direct hits from the 17 pounders he had just missed.
With the going getting rough, Phil de-arsed from the game and left the table. Photo above shows his de-arse.
Endex, my 3rd Troop of Shermans at the objective...huzzah! A nice quick game in which I finally got a chance to practice some maneuver tactics rather than trying to negate them. It was rather good to see that although Phil had a lost, he had learnt quite a bit about tactics as well, and with the cheese board empty we called it a night.

Operation Aintree Part 3

Phil struck back against the British with a hit amongst the lower Troop, but bad luck with the dice saw no other causalities.
My Recon force seeing an opportunity for a quick win, rushed down the road, past the Panther lair which was concentrating on the two Troops of Shermans.
However it was not to be, Phil took his StuG's out of their Hull down position and made short work of the valiant attempt. Blah humbug!
Payback was quick with the Shermans blowing through the Mark IV's and scoring some nice kills with rear shots into the weak armour of the engine bays.
Again once out of their positions the Assault Guns fell victim to rear shots...the tide was changing...

Operation Aintree 2

Back to the Battle after the techinical glitches of the past week, Movement one saw the British advance into the town led by the Recon force, accompanied by a Troop of Shermans. While the other two Troops skirted the town on either side looking to protect the flanks of the advance.
The Germans on the other side of the town moved the Panther Platoon along the central road and placed StuG's in Hull down positions protecting the top corridor, while the Recon element and the Panzer IV Platoon combined to probe the lower fields looking to manoever into a blocking force.
First blood to the British, with a combined Troop attack knocking out a Panther (Firefly did the trick), while the central Troop scored a kill on a Hanomag. Phil retreated his Panthers under the impression that I was going to swamp his position.
Counterstroke from the Germans saw two Shermans stonked from the central and lower Troops, British Commander disapointed to lose a valuable Firefly, but judged that speed was the key not firepower in order to force the issue.
The next move by the British saw the upper Troop standoff against the Assault Guns, while the Central Force of Recon Cars and Shermans advance against the retreating Panthers, hoping to force him all the way back to the Farm. Combined attacks by the lower Troop saw a Panzer IV knocked out. Airfix Mk IV with sideskirts above.

Disaster

Just after the last post the Manor and Stables were hit by lighting.

Currently the wiring for both is being replaced and some new Appliances sought.

Blogging will continue at a later date...when insurance pays out!!!

Cheers Paul
