Taking a leaf out of Al from 20th Century Wargamings book I have undertaken a few Matchbox figure conversions tonight.
I have been using the heads from the British Infantry grenade thrower, a figure that is rather surplus to my needs as he is not armed.
They seem to fit quite well with Matchbox Commando's, which really do need some helmets blended into the set.
nice convertions
ReplyDeleteDo you 'pin' the heads? as glueing that plastic is impossible. I did a number of 1/32nd conversions swopping Airfix 'para' heads Beret & helmet around and 'imex' wounded heads from union infantry...gave some variety.
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff Paul! Thanks to a generous donation from a collector in Auckland I now have enough figures to continue with my Marines, don't go using up all those heads will you?
ReplyDeleteI used a normal model glue to afix the heads to the necks (Not great but enough to hold it until the next part) and sealed them with PVA Glue. While not perfect it builds in strength with each coat and the enamel paint adds even more at this scale.
ReplyDeleteI have used the pin method as well in the past but this time it was just a spur of the moment thing. Previous PVA attempts like this have worked out ok nd are still in use after 3 or so years.
But in saying that I know what you mean about the glue-ability of the plastic.
Al plenty of noggins left for you and your bootnecks.
