M2-M101 105mm Part 3
Moving on, I then attached the plastic gun shield onto the front of the carriage, after poor fixing with normal model cement, I resorted to using superglue, which adhered perfectly. I left to set for a few hours, just in case...
After a complete fix was achieved I took the front half shield from the 6 Pounder and reversed glued it at about axle level. This half shield really should have a the same shape at the bottom as at the top but it is for wargaming remember...
Where the sink mark from the mould of the half shield on the right side is I attached a box which is on the real thing, not too sure what this is for, maybe tools? I used 37mm ammo boxes from a Fujimi Sdkfz 251/10 kit.
I attached a crude sight and wheel both from the Airfix Bren Carrier and 6 Pounder set. The wheel is a steering wheel, which you can do without and the 'sight' is part of the traversing dials on the gun...I think.
With that all done I gave them a good primer coat of black to hide the construction, this also helps to seal and bond the kit. I purposely made a high elevation on the guns as it is for Infantry support at long ranges, not anti tank warfare...If you need to use these against armour or infantry at short range you have messed up big time!!!
You have been a very busy boy! Can't wait to see these on the table top mate, awesome modelling!
