Still plugging away on my BEF 1940 force, Support Companies and my second Battalion shown here are almost ready for basing. I also had the pleasure of Al from 20th Century Wargaming pop around for a couple of quiet ones yesterday afternoon. A good couple of hours were spent planing our 1940 campaign, and he also threw my way a few Lewis gun figures which will be useful. I also dragged out an old Airfix Boulton Paul Defiant given to me my Al last xmas. I probably will do a quick construction on this to operate as air cover to the poor bloody infantry.
Spartan instruction sheet although the decals look fine. I did a quick look at fixing a few of the faults for this kit, but frankly cannot be bothered. That's life!
As you may be aware, I use 1/144 scale aircraft with my 20mm toys. A few years ago I ran a France 1940 game where my many boxes of toys were completely upstaged by John Chaplin's scratchbuilt Fairey Battle. Needless to say it didn't last long... Tim
Very Good blog.
ReplyDeleteheers mate, glad you like it.
ReplyDeleteWOW! Defiant! I'm waiting for copleted model!
ReplyDeleteGreat catching up Paul, looking forward to see what you achieve with the AAMG stands.
ReplyDeleteThe Defient kit is a pig, I any surprised by it's faults which are many...
ReplyDeleteA Defiant as daylight air cover? Poor bloody infantry right enough!
ReplyDeleteI do like the Defiant though. Any weapon with a fundamental flaw in the design gets the thumbs up from me!
Tim
Yep Tim, it is along with the Fairey Battle one of my favourites.
ReplyDeleteCannot seem to get hold of a Battle here in NZ, but I do hear Airfix is re-releasing them.
