Jocks or Canucks

Flat out with getting stuff ready for this weekends game, so a minor update tonight. Head swaps from Matchbox British 8th Army onto Matchbox British Infantry
I probably will use these mixed in with regular Matchbox British Infantry to form a Battalion of Scots or maybe Canada's Black Watch or other Highland Regiments. More research needed, but its always good to start something new.

  1. Blimey, thanks for the memories. I spent many happy hours with Britich 8th Army and German Africa Corps with a couple of 25 pounder metal artillery guns.

I thought a lot of my old miniatures were "00" scale but I could be wrong, wasn't that the standard Airfix size for their smaller miniatures ? I had quite a few matchbox miniatures and models too, I think they overtook Airfix in the quality of their vehicles. I also recall some excellent diorama type boxed sets. I think one was a command post with a halftrack that looked superb.

Anyway, like I said, thanks for the memories. I moved on from WWII but not far, just into the fantasy and sci-fi world. I'm still heavily involved in war gaming.

    Keep up the excellent blog,

  2. Hi Sigmar, Matchbox figures were 1/76 compared to HO/OO for Airfix, but they are quite the same.

A good link to see this is:

Quite true also about the quaility of most of the Airfix kits as well.

Thanks for the nice comments and you have a good lot of blogs on the go I see.

    Cheers Paul

  4. What a great idea !

    Those look the business.

At a pinch, if you cut the pom off, the Tam might just about pass for a beret at this scale and you could use them as Commandos.

You're tempting me to start chopping up my old beloved Matchbox figures.

  6. 00 gauge is a model railroad scale, which is the same as 1:76 scale.

  7. Cheers again fella's. I think that I shall leave the Commandos to Al.

I still think that their is enough spare Matchbox figures around to butcher without getting too sentimental about it.

    Model on!
