More progress tonight on the 1st Battalions Support Company, but not enough for a post. However I have started to finished my 2nd Battalion which like the next will be comprised of British Indian Army troops. I really like the idea of using the biggest volunteer army that World War Two saw, and I think that they need to be recognized for the major effort they played during the conflict. I also feel that they received quite a raw deal and remain some of the unsung hero's in the Allied endeavor. Top photo shows the Command stand of A Company consisting of two converted figures. First at the rear is a standard Matchbox British Infantry rifleman with a Airfix Luftwaffe Personnel head with forage cap in KD, while to the left is a Airfix Australian Infantry pose acting as a British Officer with a Matchbox scrimmed British helmet. A lovely thing about these forces is the mix of uniforms as supply lines were stretched and Units and soldiers in the field made do.
The next Platoon is made up of two Matchbox figures, with the rear pose taken from the 8th Army set and to the front a Commando with a attached helmet, I think this stand looks quite animated.
Last Platoon with two Matchbox British Infantry figures. The Bren gunner has swapped his helmet for a bush hat from an Airfix Australian set.
Company frontage, which I must say is quite narrow compared to a three Platoon Company, and could get me into a tad of bother in the J.
I like their colour Paul (I hope I am politically correct)!! :-)
ReplyDeleteYou are making a formidable and versatile force there my friend.
T.
very nice. With matchbox you can't go wrong what lovely figures.
ReplyDeleteCheers for the comments, Humbrol 29 Matt Dark Earth. From a distance it seems to work nicely.
ReplyDeleteGEM, total agreement with the figures, although the German Infantry was a little toy like.
