With most of my last few weeks work on these forces starting to be completed, its time to start posting some snaps. Tonight we have the 1st Battalion of the 1st Regiment of a 1943-45 Soviet Rifle Division. The Headquarters and Weapons Company I will post tomorrow. All figures ESCI, Revell and Italeri.
1st Company, two Infantry stands. I must say it has taken me awhile to get my head around such weak Units, but it does make building Battalions quite fast.
2nd Company, with a Degtyaryov DP light machine gun. Nice pose but you need to something with the stand for the bipod as it looks quite silly and thin.

Aaaaah, Ruskies!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat painting there mate!
Now let the human waves swarm the table!!! :-)
T.
Battalion? That's nearly enough figures for a Rifles Corps!
ReplyDeleteLooking good.
Tim
Really good mix of figures, they painted up well too, see you after cricket
ReplyDeleteI like the way you mix the sets and they always look like they originally belonged together.
ReplyDeleteNice one :-)
Cheers
Paul
Excellent the hoards are a coming!
ReplyDeleteMight be a little light on the troops for a stand or two, but when ya got several THOUSAND battalions...it adds up! :-)
ReplyDeleteNice paint work for wargaming figs!
Nice looking blokes.I am so glad you decided to include an officer waving his pistol in the air,it wouldn't be a Russian army without one.
ReplyDeleteI think the Russian poses from the manufacturers they list are OK...but more should have bayonets fixed to their rifles, like the pose you get in one of the OOP Revell boxes.
ReplyDeleteCheers for the comments fella's. These Soviets are a handfull all right.
