Having being quite ill for most of the weekend I have been away from the modelling table, and I am getting figure painting fever from the Soviet hoard. So I thought it was time to get back to a bit of treadhead heaven. Tonight's post is the first of three to four (1944) Medium Tank Companies assigned to each Tank Regiment.
For Command Decision Three tables we need two Medium Tanks per Company. This Company is made up of Airfix T34's with the 76mm gun.
Both these T34/76 are rebuilt wrecks. I still prefer these old Airfix post war T34's against the first lot of Armourfast T34/76 kits...Just something about them that looks a little off.
Yeah, nice one. I like the older ones too.
ReplyDeleteAha! The tanks have arrived!! I agree with you about the odd look of the armourfast stuff..there´s something not quite right with em...???.

Wow those look great! I've recently rejected an offer of 12 T34 at a price of 3 euro a piece! Just because they were Airfix! Couldn't you have posted those prime examples earlier! :p And thanks for the inspirational use of your esci soviet horses, mine now serve as towing teams for my 70mm mortars!
ReplyDeleteGreets,
I don't like the first batch of HaT T-34s either. The newer (1943 variant) are a bit better. I think the proportions and length are a bit off. Although Airfix T-34s look good, my personal preference is always with the Matchbox T-34s ;)
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work.
Dimitri
I thought you couldn't have a Russian army without T-34's.Nicely built tanks I can wait for HaT tank riders to come out.So whats next Stalin's organs?
ReplyDeleteCheers fellas. I am glad that some of you agree with the look of the first lot of Hat T34/76's.
ReplyDeleteThe Belgian, mate you have missed out on a nice lot of kits there, old but perfectly servicable.(Just like me!)
Dimitri, Mmmmm the Matchbox kit seems a little wide to me but like you I love it to bits. Fujimi's series of T34's are top notch as well.
West1871, Looking forward to the decants as well, ah no to the Stalin Organs at the moment, I think they were more of a Corps or Army asset.
Great work Paul!
ReplyDeleteA formidable force, is on the way!
I have tried the Armourfasts' T34-76(1943), and I think they are quite ok. I am waiting for the Zvezda's snap kits, that are about to come to the market.
T.
Cheers Thanos, good to hear that the later T34's (1943) are improved...I had not heard about Zvezda's kits, more good news!!
