Gun Month - D1 152mm Howitzer
Okay the Box says M-30 122mm, but you get the option to construct the D1 152mm gun. I chose this option as the barrel and breech construction was one piece and I can sometimes be lazy. I brought this about three years ago and it has been in construction for most of that time (remember I can be lazy). I finally finished the building phase tonight and am well pleased that it is completed.
To be honest the kit is a bit of a pig, the plastic is quite brittle, instructions very vague and confusing and fit not so great. It does fill a gap and will be fielded with my Soviets. Would I buy another, you bet, I actually need the M30 122mm more than this beast. On the list for painting this weekend-ish.
Nice gun! What a about the price aren't those eastern european kits expensive?
ReplyDeleteGreets,
Intereting..I have never heard of the maker "pst" before. Are they keeping themselves quiet..;-D
ReplyDeleteNice looking BIG gun, I look forward to seeing it painted
Cheers
Paul
Lovely kit - I have one too!
ReplyDeleteTim
Good job there Paul.
ReplyDeleteThough I have a question: Did this gun came out of this kit? The kit's cover shows a completely different model than the one you assembled!
But, don't pay any attention to me, I might have to go to the optician - again! ;-)

ReplyDeleteThat is usually the case with these small Russian producers. They make nice models though :)
Dunno if you'll be able to get more...PST have been very quiet the last few years, I can't buy some of their Russian kits through Hobby Terra (http://www.hobbyterra.com/) any more...have you got a contact who has some more of them to give/sell to you?
ReplyDeleteA well fought battle with this kit ;)
ReplyDeleteCheers for the comments. PST was a manufacturer from Russia (Minsk/Belarus). I am pretty sure that they are out of business, however kits still pop up from time to time. Price wise I find them about the same as Italeri kits, but I have only brought them off auction sites 2nd hand. This kit was $11.00 NZD, so that was quite cheap.
ReplyDeleteThis kit did not come with the 152mm instructions, and I just found the parts in the box. Only a little research told me what they were.
True about the quaility Maurice, but it does make a nice change to have a decent choice of kits that are not all Tiger Tanks.
Thanos, the text explains the options. Go and see about your eyes, you only have two of them!
Come on tim get your Gun out!
Cheers fella's.
Not sure if they are out of business, their website is still there, at least:
ReplyDeletePST Model
I think PST are now made by some else now I think there is something on Henk of Hollands site. Those Russian kits have great subjects but a pain in the arse to build.
ReplyDeleteGreat gun look forward to seeing it finished.
Cheers mate.
ReplyDeleteZvezda now make a fast build kit of the M39 122mm gun and it comes with two crew figures as well.
