Mating the hull top to the chassis after the pure joyless task of linking the tracklinks. No photos of the tracklink process mainly because I hated that much I forgot to capture the torture involved.
Gun cleaning rods container and aux fuel drums. The drums are terrible and do not join correctly, and I was tempted to leave them off.
Hull lights, tow hooks and drivers hatch. The hatch can be left open which is a nice change, however I did not want to fluff around with a figure here.
Gun in the rear along with the turret assembly. The turret was a dream until the attaching of the Gun rod tube, I could not get the angles just right. Again the Commanders hatch can be left open and has some nice details on the inside. ESCI Warsaw Pact figure will be dropped in here. The AAMG is a little plain and lacks some detail and I thought of swapping it with the AAMG that comes with the Matchbox T34...I did not however as it looked a little to much work. The ammo tin for the AAMG however is a gem and looks spot on.
Looking good so far.Never knew Matchbox did a T-80.Tracks are the bane of my life as well mate.
ReplyDeleteHard plastic tracklinks? What sadist thought them up? I refuse to build such things - which is why several of my Esci Pz III and IVs are riding round on old Airfix of Matchbox tracks rescued from the spares box.

Coming along nicely.
ReplyDeleteNice. Crew figures?
ReplyDeleteTim and Mr West, I think that we should start a facebook page concerning injected tracklinks...I could think of some unflattering names to call it.
ReplyDeleteCheers for your backing.
Cheers Paul and Al. Figure for turret will come from the ESCI Warsaw Pact set, minus his scorpion machinepistol.
