Truck Month - Roden Opel Blitz

And so it begins! The Roden kit kindly donated by Easternfunker came without it's box but he had scanned another box top for any info that may have been needed to me.
Chassis construction looking from the engine mount. The first few steps are for the highly detailed engine, which for me is surplus. I hope that leaving out the engine does not come back and bite me in the arse later on. Hardly any flash and the build for this stage although looking dicey on paper was simple.
Next phase of construction deals with the cabin interior. Heavy detailing here and even individual foot pedals of which I left out. I must find a driver for in here.
Rear wheel and axle assembly, again on paper this looks more complex than it really is.
Front set. I cannot help feeling while the detail is very nice it is probably a little awesome for wargaming.
One of two options for the rear cargo deck. Great to have a different option for a deck for a blitz. I choose this because the Airfix,ESCI/Italeri and Pegasus deck sides are all the same.
Chassis complete with exhaust and driveshaft added. Total time including drying of glue till here about 90 minutes.

  4. That looks a very involved model, but then I was glad when Airfix released it's Blitz after suffering the relative complexity of the Esci model. I currently have 13 trucks underway - but all in 6mm! Does this counts towards my 'truck month' quota?

  5. I'm glad you decided not to do the engine block!
I did with my very first one. Adds another few hours onto the construction time...and since we want our vehicles working, not in static dioramas with the bonnets open, the engine block adds nothing.
