The continuing saga of my 1980's theme, saw some good progress today. Up with the sparrows due to the ultra fine weather I started the MERDC process all again on these ESCI/Italeri M113 ACAV kits.
Three to each Company, some with the ACAV turret protection, some without. Just as in real life the armour is aways in short supply.
The last pic before dinner sees the MERDC finished and the detail painting about to start. A nice run.
They look just great, are you putting decals and crews on others?
ReplyDeleteCheers Al.
ReplyDeleteDecals for all, and some crew where available, these are not quite finished yet.
I have at least 6 more at various stages.
A great trio. They`re looking really good!
ReplyDeleteNice work mate. Fantastic.
ReplyDeleteNick
Thanks Mork. They scrub up all right.
ReplyDeleteCheers Paul
Hi Nick, I think they look the part, although they probably need a figure or two to make them look less sterile.
ReplyDeleteRegards Paul
I agree with you Paul, some figures would make them finished.
ReplyDeleteWonderfull work!
Greetings
Peter
Paul - in my terms that's not a Mech Co, it's a division! Lovely painting as ever. I like the shot of the ACAV hull down behind your newspaper...
ReplyDeleteThey look fantastic Paul. Nine of them will be impressive.
ReplyDeleteThanks for showing those; I had great fun cruising around in those in the 80's and 90's too. Of course ours were usually dirtier than that.
ReplyDeleteI was just commenting on Paul's Bods that the TC's would use a stick to get the driver's attention because of the engine compartment being right there by his head, too loud to shout a lot of times.
The intercom may or may not work right, and there you have some pictures where you can see the engine grate next to the two hatches.
That was good timing with his Roman Centurion with the stick.
You have your favourites when it comes to APCs, don't you? :-D Too many M113 variants out there.
ReplyDeleteThanks Peter, I will see about some bods.
ReplyDeleteCheers Paul
Hi Tim our Newpaper is pretty thin so not much protection afforded.
ReplyDeleteCheers Paul...9, might be more than that yet...I am on a roll!
ReplyDeleteHi mekelinborg. Yes they were lovely boxes to shelter in on a rainy day. Good to here some real stories about there habits.
ReplyDeleteRegards Paul.
Gidday Chris, of course the M113 holds a place in my heart, shame we replaced them with LAV's.
ReplyDeleteThey will soldier on through my blog however!
Cheers mate
Paul
Nice little M113's!!!
ReplyDeleteI have made many army exercises in them!!!
Our looked much dirtier though!!
The camo scheme looks very much to the Greek version we are using! Great work Paul!!!
T.
Hi Thanos. I am glad you like them and have fond memories of them. Greece of course still uses the MERDC scheme. Good on them!
