Cymbeline Radar NZ Service.

Radar, Field Artillery, No 15, better known as Cymbeline, was a widely-used British mortar locating radar operating in the I band using a Foster scanner. It was developed by Thorn-EMI and was in British service from 1975 until about 2003 with the Royal Artillery. I thought I would scatchbuild a troop (1 trailer) of these for my 1980's NZ Force. Started off with a Airfix trailer from the White Half track out of the spares box. Got rid of the axle and the wheels because they were a mess.
Replaced with Airfix GMC Truck wheels and axles.
Not a bad match.
Spares from Airfix B17, Fujimi M36 Jackson added.
More spares from ESCI/Italeri M113, ESCI Battlefield accessories (Wicker bale), Airfix Panther and a few pins.
Not a bad looking Mortar Locating set. I am working on the crew now.

  3. Plenty o British shots and even Chinese army versions against the NVA in the late 70's and 80's.
