Knot or Knoll...You be the Judge

I was fiddling some Blue Gum logs yesterday, and after removing some of the small swirls I noted that these might be useful on the game table acting as hills or knolls. So I decided to take some home and give them a bash.
The nice thing about hardwoods is they can munt your drill bits nicely. I loved the fact that it broke my first bit after two holes drilled, classy stuff.

Holes drilled, the holes of course are for the fake tree branches of the xmas tree.

Splash with PVA glue then flock, and after drying add trees. They look the part and are quite light as well, sweet.

  3. Knolls...the grassy kind to be avoided, especially in texas. They look really good, nice bit of re-cycling.

  6. Extremely cheap, simple and nifty - the best kind of terrain! They look great...when I'm out in the coutryside this weekend I might keep an eye out for the same. They would work well with the plastic tree armatures I'm currently involved with, too.

  10. Cheers Paul for your insight on events back in 1963. I actually like to recycle stuff for the table as it leaves more money for more models...and beer!

    Giddy up
