I was fiddling some Blue Gum logs yesterday, and after removing some of the small swirls I noted that these might be useful on the game table acting as hills or knolls. So I decided to take some home and give them a bash.
The nice thing about hardwoods is they can munt your drill bits nicely. I loved the fact that it broke my first bit after two holes drilled, classy stuff.

Sweet as chocolate mate!
ReplyDeleteYou never know what you might find in your back yard!

Looks the part to me and add some weight to the table.

Knolls...the grassy kind to be avoided, especially in texas. They look really good, nice bit of re-cycling.

As a wargamer that chops up a lot of trees, that is an awesome idea. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteLove it, Paul - I am a 'recyler' when it comes to terrain etc...excellent!
ReplyDeleteThat is a great idea!
ReplyDeleteExtremely cheap, simple and nifty - the best kind of terrain! They look great...when I'm out in the coutryside this weekend I might keep an eye out for the same. They would work well with the plastic tree armatures I'm currently involved with, too.
ReplyDeleteLooks very natural and attractive. Very nice piece of terrain!
ReplyDeleteHi Thanos, Cheers mate. I got these from my workplace, Don't kill any trees getting them!
ReplyDeleteHi Greg, some weight...nice one. They are quite light really.
ReplyDeleteCheers Paul for your insight on events back in 1963. I actually like to recycle stuff for the table as it leaves more money for more models...and beer!
ReplyDeleteGiddy up
Hi Ron good to know that you see the merit in the idea, and that you chop up trees as well!
ReplyDeleteDecent hard work.
Cheers Paul
Hey Monty you are a cheap blighter as am I. And there is nothing wrong with that, especially after seeing you results.
ReplyDeleteCheers Paul
cheers Biff, they best ideas are usually the simplest.
ReplyDeleteRegards Paul
Thanks Mr Easternfunker, Aussie trees as well. I hope you are proud! Watch out for those snake things you have over there.
ReplyDeletePaul
Thanks Yori!
ReplyDeleteYes, you lucky devils have no snakes...so somehow you got possums 20 years back as revenge.
ReplyDeleteGreat work !!! Very natural !! Compliments
ReplyDeleteAh the possums have been here since the early 1900's, and they are not protected here mate...Well only by fur eh!
ReplyDeleteCheers.
