M113 Fitter

Falling for temptation once again I picked up another Airfix/JB models M113 just because it was cheap. It arrived today in the post and I have been thinking of a couple of options for its construction. (Anything to cheer me up about the Craptech Hind I am trying to build)
It's probable use will be as a Fitter vehicle, which is a pretty simple conversion. Some good pics of a Kiwi version are shown here.
Of course I could also do a M58 Wolf version which is a smoke generator...But also quite boring.

  1. The 'Kiwi' verison brings back memories.. I served in an APC squadron for 7 years (1 Squadron NZ Scots) in the late 70s/early 80s .. in the APC troop, with the M113s/T50 turrent (.50 cal and .30 cal mgs).

Thank goodness we never went to war in them..LOL

    Kind regards

  4. Paul,
Definitely go with the wrecker variant. Much more exciting and you can repair your stands!

  5. Good on you Robin. Yes lucky for everyone I think. I can imagine 2 Cants on the battlefield...Utter chaos one would say.

  7. Er Erhntly, I have already made about 15 of the normal M113's.

I think the Fitter is a little more interesting. Now where is that HI-AB

  8. I will have to consult Al on what CD3 Modern says about making repairs in the field. The games are usually a little too short I think. One move equals 30mins of real time on the board.

    Fitter it is though!
