I while ago I picked up a "Combat Tanks" magazine with a T54 Czech MBT, while the disruptive pattern on this tank is very cool for a WARSAW Pact vehicle, its job on my table was to look a little more uniform. So time for a 1960's makeover!

Looking more MERDC than Eastern European, I gave it a OD number two spray.

Given that the the T54 is quite an old beastie, even in the 1980's I decided to give it a rather rough look, rather than the freshly painted look of my T55's.

This diecast compared to the Easy Model T55 is quite basic and the wheels are a little fragile.

Nice quick paint, all up about 60 minutes worth of work. That 100mm gun looks nasty from this angle.
It does look the part, but I'm not sure I can forgive you for painting over the original Czech camo!
ReplyDeleteNow Tim, the Czech's were the only blighters in the Warpac that bothered to cam up their vehicles.
ReplyDeleteThat being said I was a bit teary about it too...
Hi! Great tank turned out. The manufacturer who?
ReplyDeleteNot a bad paint job...and a one off Czech T55 isn't enough to take west...;-)
ReplyDeletePaul, how many t 54 in this photos :)
ReplyDeleteGreat job, Tim! I love the new camo.

Hi Don, tanks are scaled, one tank = 1 tank Platoon, still not enough to tour Europe, but quite enough to tour NZ.
