Airfix French Cavalry (Cuirassiers)

Dave once again has been pouring his heart and soul into producing some gems out of blobs of ancient plastic.
Hot on the heels of ESCI's 1980's French Cuirassiers are the 1969 versions from Airfix.
Dave reckons they are total @##*%$ to put together and not the best cavalry ever made.
Myself I think he has done a grand job, considering.
I will let the pics do the talking.

Cheers again Dave and great work as per usual.

  1. I'm astonished that he even bothered with these. I had a set in the late '70s and they weren't great even back then. I like the way they are literally nailed to the bases!

  2. I remember doing the pin through the base back in the day! Excellent. Pure nostalgia on a stick (or in this case, a pin)!

  3. Never been a fan of Airfix, especially with much better HaT, Zvezda and Italeri offerings, but these are well done. The interesting thing about the Airfix set are the stationary, dismounted figure and the bizarre crouching-behind-dead-horse-brandishing sword figure!

  4. Hi Tim, yes much of what Dave described in his email was too emotive to put on the site relating to the basing.

    Cheers Paul

  5. Cheers Matt, the poor blighter did put a lot of effect into these.

As Tim said, he's nailed them!

  6. Hi Rosbif, back in the day, Hat and Zvezda and Italeri were not on the scence so we worked with what we had.

That being said this is probably the worst of the Airfix Naps released.

That Officer is not bizarre mate, he is about to tuck into a decent bit of steak.

    Cheers Paul

  7. This was a favourite set of mine. I think I got them right after the Highlanders. The guy walking the horse was a gem. But they need a bit of detailing and the few I have left that are operational were converted to dragoons. The rest now languish in plastic mountain.

  8. The plastic mountain is lucky to have such fine gentlemen!
