I had a really good bash at the Craptech Kitech Hind last night and with her indoors away for the night and a super roaring fire going I think I actually got somewhere.

Base coated with Olive Drab 2 from Tamiya which I think is a pretty good match for most things within the Soviet sphere, and also provides some scope for depth shading.

Next up I bluetacked the aircraft body into what I thought looked like a eastern bloc scheme with those blobbly rounded edge patterns.
A quick spray with Dark Yellow adds to the disruptive pattern.

Some Ghost Grey for the underside of the fuselage, tail boom and the wing stubs, rocket pods. This Ghost Grey id looking rather light, and I think it may well be past it’s best before date. I had better put that on the list.
Need a couple of pilots and as per usual they are not supplied, and I will have to get onto the rotor blades.
I give myself a pat on the back , for sticking with this as I am usually a little impatient towards crap
Great job of an obviously difficult kit to work with, did I mention the OOB actually allows for three of these:)?
ReplyDeleteYou must think I am a sucker for punishment eh?
ReplyDeleteI think I will stick with Airfix if I ever build another Hind.
Cheers mate.
I'm impressed that you resisted the temptation to chuck it on the 'super roaring fire'.
ReplyDeleteCongrats...I tried the blue tack method on a WWI bi-plane..not a comlicated pattern but it turned out C**P. You´ve done a grand job, especially considering all the bumps and dips on the fuselage
ReplyDeleteCheers

ReplyDeleteYour making it look an easy kit mate!camo is looking good.
ReplyDeleteCheers Rich.
I can see the silk purse coming from this sow's ear...
ReplyDeleteHey! Love the camo. Awesome start to the paint job.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a good blog.
Hi Tim, I would never pollute the skys with this piece of junk.
ReplyDeleteClean an green I am.
Cheers mate.
Hi Paul. Perhaps it is due to the age of the blue tack or the paint used. Good to try anyway. This works just a well as the marmite way.
ReplyDeleteCheers Paul
Cheers Monty.
ReplyDeleteNo progress yesterday, drinks instead.
Regards Paul...Hic!
Thanks Rich.
ReplyDeleteStill 2 weeks to build a kit is bit of a joke!
Regards Paul
Hi Easternfunker.
ReplyDeleteI think that purse maybe a little optimistic mate.
Cheers for the comment though.

ReplyDeleteHappy enough with the cam myself, but there are still issues coming up with the canopy.
Cheers for the comments about the blog, it keeps me on track.
