Just when I thought I was on the cresta run I started on the worst part of construction, canopies. To me this is the make or break on a kitset. You either spill paint on them or the glue you are using frosts them up. Above you can see another problem, they are not going to fit.

This kit has opening canopies of the door type, which to true form do not fit.

The other thing I detest is cutting them down, I either fracture them or scratch the plastic.

The best I can do, 40 minutes or pure pain. I hate canopies.
Have you considered using white qlue aka PVA to fix the canopy in place? Not as strong as superglue (but still pretty strong if allow to set for 24 hours). Of course that doesn't help with the &$#%@ing thing not fitting in the first place.
ReplyDeleteJust when you thought it couldn't get worse!
ReplyDeleteThat's a good idea Chris. I ha not thought of that at all. Learned something new tonight.
ReplyDeleteNice one.
I bloomin know it Tim. I had thought it was all down hill after the main construction was complete. But there you go.
ReplyDeleteBack on track now.
Cheers paul
Chris´s idea with the PVA is a good one...it seems that all other normal plastic glues frost the insides.. I´ve used PVA as well..first lightly rough the edges up with a nailfile on both parts that will be bonded...works a treat.
