Airfix Bedford QLT 2

Progress shots to show where I am up to. A couple of undercoats and then a top coat of a light Olive Drab. Purist will say that it is too dark and the shade of the tarp hanging down is a better match, but it seems to me the vehicles received darker coats as the war progressed.
Dull Black for the top of the truck, blended down to the mid point of the cab. I am unsure whether to bother with the rest of the mickey mouse scheme for the body but will probably give it a miss so it can work in other campaigns.
The driver is from one of the Airfix RAF vehicles set, although not a perfect fit as I had to cut off one of the arms.
Still more detail painting to go and I need to actually attach the tarp cover to the body and add the Bren, plus weathering etc. This may take a bit yet as a Matchbox Jeep keeps staring at me from the spares box.

  2. Very cool. Speed = quantity. And like our dear comrade Stalin said "Quantity has a quality all of it's own..." Or something like that.

The scheme is a pain due to the circles. I just dont dig circles.

  4. Hi Nick, I just stumble through mate,If the kit is good going then so is progress. It is quiet at the Gulag at the moment with plenty of time for this sort of carry on.

    Cheers Paul

  5. To paint the MM cammo couldn´t you make a stencil?
One made from insulating tape..it doesn´t stick aggresively to the surface but just enough.
    Lovely build
    Cheers

  7. Coming along nicely Paul. I have often been accused of using 'Mickey Mouse' paint schemes. But I don't think it was a compliment.

  9. Hi paul I am for too lazy for that, although on a flat panel I think a stencil would do well.

That gives me a cunning idea.

  11. Hi Tim, I too have suffered the Mickey Mouse outfit comments. I have risen above it however and now realise that Goofy does not know what he/she is talking about.

  13. Hi Al, uncommitted to that as I think I may have to order another set to see how the truck you built comes out.

    Nice kit all round.
