Armoured Car Squadron Rebuild

After going though the stash of 2nd hand kits I have accumulated of late, I have decided to form a second British Armoured Car Squadron. In CD3 terms a Brit Squadron can consist of 3 to 5 vehicles, with the Units gaining size as the war progressed. Above I have four Armoured Cars completed, Hasegawa Humber and Daimler, Matchbox Humber and Dingo.
Here I have the scrapheap kits looking to return to duty, all with various defects and issues. Three Matchbox Humbers and a Dingo.
First up is a Dingo from the Matchbox Monty's Caravan set. Wheel and axle stub missing, poor parts assembly and the hatch is glued closed. The wheel will not be an issue as it has a spare on the back, new axle stub to be constructed and I will hide the faults with stores. Superglue has been used to close the hatches which is a shame and I will leave it that way as it is quite a fragile model.
The first of a trio of Humbers all Matchbox. This ones not too shabby but the gun is broken off and missing so I will have to manufacture one.
This one is probably the best, no real faults other than a few layers of thick paint. Quick light repaint is all that's required.
The last one is twice as thick with enamel paint and the barrel is a replacement by the look of it. Again a light repaint. I have another one that I may build and replace the Daimler in the other Squadron. The Daimler will then be pushed into a HQ Squadron...Or that's the plan.

Model on Gents!

  1. The Matchbox Humber has been a favourite of mine sine it was launched. I still think of the Dingo as a 'new' kit...

  4. Hi Tim, yes it is a shame that the Dingo somes with the caravan set and not by itself. A twin pack would be magic.

  5. Cheers Rich and Sub-Radar Mike, but I have not done anything to them yet.

You might have got the other SQN confused with the 2nd hand kits I am working on.

    Cheers Paul
