M41 Bulldog Kitbash

As mentioned in my previous post, I received a pre-made Hasegawa M24 Chaffee light tank in the post today, and have spent a couple of hours carrying out a conversion to a M41 Walker Bulldog (Squint your eyes type conversion). I need one to finish off my NZ Cold war Armoured Force as a Command Tank.
The M41 looks quite similar to the M24, although the drive sprockets are located at the rear of the running gear in the M41. I have absolutely no wish to change these around as it would weaken the kit.
The rear of the turret and storage bins are made of plastic from a takeaway container. I find these very good for conversions as they cut and glue well and bend nicely. The exhausts come from a Fujimi M36 Jackson and Airfix 88mm Gun.
The main gun is actually a 90mm gun from a ESCI M48, but I have cut it down to act as a long 76mm. M551 turret cupola and a .50 cal from a M113. This is going well I think and I will start to putty in the gaps tomorrow.

  4. Hi Geordie. You are quite correct there mate. I have been planning this in my head for about 3 months so the actual process should be quick.

  6. Cheers Al, I think we should leave Auckland out of any invasion plans. Having been there I see no benefit in having it.

    Model on.
