Dave again has sent me a plethora of photos of his latest projects, with the first post of three I am hoping to squeeze in before Christmas we have Matchbox (Soon to be re-released from Revell) ANZAC's.
Bren gun team with the No1 reaching for the spare barrel, which the No2 should be carrying, after all that's what a No2 is supposed to be for.
Charging rifleman with SMLE. Lovely detail on these poses, probably the first set to include rifle bandoleers on the pose.
Vickers MMG, super looking gun moulding, and much better than Matchbox's British Infantry.
Officer/NCO and Signaler type along with another rifleman. One of the best Signaler poses out there I think.
Unfortunately the only weak links in the set are I believe the actual Mortar, which is a rather clumsy affair like all Matchbox Mortars and the wounded fella which takes up a pose while not actually being very useful. Super moulding again however.
More charging and another Officer type, the best thing about all these poses is that they all seem to fit together.
Firing poses with another Bren pose. The amount of poses in this set is flippin fantastic.
The bloke on the left is missing his mule Dave where's his mule?
Great work Dave, with the faded jungle green look perfectly carried out. Well done.
The best set ever!!!!!The best!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with those Paul!
And merry Christmas to you and yours!!
T.
My favorite set of all time, sculpted by the same guy who did the Airfix set, so they all go together really well as an 'ensamble' and - as you say - beautifully painted. All they need now is a couple of Indian Army Lees or a green Matilda and some stores...where's the Mule Dave?!!
ReplyDeleteI remember those figures when I was a boy! My G... Vickers ROCKZ!! :D Very nice painting. Do some nice looking bases and you have funtastic set :)
ReplyDeleteCheers
Excellent work on what is perhaps my favorite WWII set ever.
ReplyDeleteDimitri
The painting on these guys is really nice Paul. Dave has done a very nice job of them. Merry Christmas Paul.
ReplyDeleteLovely. I used to have a stack of them..only 4 left now :-( Not my period but definately on the list of to get.
ReplyDeleteHappy X-mas
Cheers
paul
Hi Thano yep I think you are quite right about the best set ever.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas
Hi Hugh, I did not know about the sculptural references, but it makes sense.
ReplyDeleteThe Matilda and Lee's are crying to be added to the set as you say.
He done good (except for the missing mule).
Merry Christmas
Hi Thomas, yes the Vickers is lovely and in scale for a change.
ReplyDeleteCheers Paul
Dimitri,it is rather good painting isn't it.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas
Hi Rodger, yes Dave has been busy of late with a painting fest. You wait there's more to come!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas
Paul
Hi Paul, not your period! Crikey mate I thought everything was all your period!
ReplyDeleteBeing re released you will be able to get a full set and a nice diorama beckoning.
Merry Christmas
Spot on
ReplyDeleteLove that ANZAC slouch on the last figures!
Lovely set, I remember that they were the first box of Matchbox figures I bought, waaaaay back a long long time ago.
ReplyDeleteI wonder, can they be used for Crete, or are they strictly for the far east?
Fab set
ReplyDeleteI especially like hat ANZAC slouch the figures have
Great work, and great colour choice.
ReplyDeleteHi Geordie, really more tin helmets should be present, but you can add these yourself.
ReplyDeleteHave a good one
Paul
Hi Rich, I did ask him what shade this was and am still awaiting a answer.
ReplyDeleteModel on dude
Hi Laffee, not really suitable for the Crete campaign as they are in a jungle demin uniform. I know that the slouch hat beckons them to be ANZACs but like the world over a tin hat mixture is best.
ReplyDeleteRevell Australians the best for Greece,Crete and North Africa.
Merry Christmas Paul
