Zvezda 122mm Gun

A quick catch up post on the Zvezda 122mm Gun that I picked up last month. I have had this finished for a few weeks now but had forgotten about it. Trying to clean up the table tonight drew it to my attention.
Nothing too fancy about it, although I was unhappy about my work with the arm attachments to the figures. My boo boo, not Zvezda's.
I still might putty the gaps up yet as they really bug me. In other news I completed construction on the Pegasus LCVP tonight and converted some figures, so all is not lost.

Model on!

  1. Nice piece of "God of War" artillery for Stalin's boys!

  2. I've found that getting the arms to fit on some of the Zvezda figures to be a problem as well - especially when the peg on the arm fits into the body at a weird angle. In a couple of instances, I ended up cutting off the peg and gluing the arm in place with liquid cement.

  3. Very nice indeed. But one thing bug me a little is that weird flock-kind grass/thing on bases. It would look a way better with static grass IMHO. Everything else is very good.

  9. You sure crank them out Paul. Try some white glue instead of putty. I use this and dental wax often enough as filler in these small areas and it works fine. Plus you don't ruin the paint job. How many of them do you plan to make?

  11. EY, yes I had to do that with another zvezda kit. There are ways around it but you would think that you would not need to do it given the price.

    Cheers Paul

  12. Hi Thomas, thanks for your imput. Static grass is fine and dandy if you are gaming squad size games, but when you are dealing with hundreds of figs the simple method saves alot of time and sanity.

The markers also need to sit on the base as well.

    Cheers Paul

  17. Correct on both counts Geordie, and better than the PST kits I might add.

  18. Hi Dimitri, I was thinking about PVA as well, but the dental wax is a great idea.

For CD3 the Soviets need one per battery with one Battery per Arty Battalion, while the other two Batteries are 76mm guns.

I have another 122mm Gun so at least one more for Divisional size units.

    Cheers for the idea.
