I made this up out of a wreck of a 1/72 RNZAF F4U Corsair I have had lying around basically in this shape for 30 or so years. No idea of the make.
I simply cut it with a hacksaw and plonked it as is onto a base.
I found a wheel from the spares box, but could not find a propeller. So I made on out of a nail file handle.
Flock and sand along with some twigs finished it off.
I think it has a nice Pacific feel to it.
Model on!

It's not meant to look like that then? I knew I should have paid more attention to the instructions...
ReplyDeleteGood use of an otherwise scrap kit.
Great!
ReplyDeleteouch.
ReplyDeleteExcellent work Paul. Gotta love Corsairs regardless of their state.

Flak can work!
ReplyDeleteNice model
Hi Tim, I know what you mean. I cannot work out why I have keep this for so long. It must have been in long term planning.
ReplyDeleteCheers Paul
Thanks BlioRay!
ReplyDeleteTsold9000. The cockpit is empty, so he must have got away.
ReplyDeleteHi Dimitri. Yep the Crank was pretty popular down here. Always good to have a blue painted plane around I think.
ReplyDeleteRegards Paul
Pilot error perhaps Geordie!
ReplyDeleteVery good use of something others would probably throw away.
ReplyDeleteThanks Rodger. I do not know why I have kept this for so long. The will of Allah perhaps?
ReplyDeleteOh, the humanity...plasticity...downright unpatrioticness of it all! A Kiwi modeling a down'd RNZAF Corsair!! :-)
ReplyDeleteActually, that is kinda brilliant. Like, very clever. I'm kinda on the lookout for some smashed models myself, for much the same reason. Though for the European theater, as that's where my WW2 toys play...for now...
Hi Nick, I have no qualms about using it, however it would have been nice to have a few more parts. I have a Me 109 that I probably will carry out the same operation.
ReplyDeleteCheers Paul
