Matchbox Panzer II ohne Aufbau

This post is a bit of a blast from the past. Back in Febuary 2009 http://plasticwarriors.blogspot.com/2009/02/nice-surpise.html I posted that I had received a Matchbox Panzer II without a turret and was planning on converting it into a Ohne Aufbau or turret less engineering/pioneer vehicle.
Finally yesterday looking for something different to work on I actually did it.
In a rather simple piece of conversion work I added a roof to the turret ring. I also added a towing wire, MG42 and some sort of handle rail at the front.
And some stowage to the rear deck.
The roof to the turret ring was a Fujimi Sherman turret floor, and the surrounding area was the floor from a Fujimi Panzer IV.
Stowage was gathered from the spares box, with a jerrican from Al. Hard plastic figure from an old kit that I cannot remember. He does look very much like a Tamyia figure though...Perhaps ex Hasegawa.
All in all, not a bad hours work I think.

Model on!

  2. Wow. A really great conversion of the old matchbox kit. I never seen a model of this version of the Panzer II before.

  4. Thanks Lonewolf, ACE does a kit of it in 1/72. Not having a turret I was left with limited options.

  5. Great stuff Paul. Very good use of an otherwise useless kit.

  6. Very nice, and good use of a turret less panzer. Although I do have a spare Pz2 turret... I think the figure is one of the guys from the Airfix Recce Set.

  8. Cheers Tim. Your turret is quite safe mate. I looked up the figures and its not from that set, no cigar for you sir!

  9. Quite right. My confusion (well, about this anyway) arises from having the same figure in one of my '222s.

  10. Very clever. Is there no depth to your spares box then?!

  11. Great work! My guess on the German figure is that he is from the Hasegawa 60cm Morser Karl with Munitionpanzer IV kit.
