Airfix Panzer IV Revamp

Hopefully Al and I will be having a quick game in a couple of days and I have been going over a few models for the TOE. The Fujimi Panzer IV was completed a couple of days ago, and I have another one working up. However I need another MkIV for a Company so I dragged out a Airfix model and started to fix it up a shade.
I like the Airfix kit, it has a simple feel about it.
Straight forward construction with hardly any flash.
No side skirts, but a choice of the F1 or F2 version.
It looks nice next to the Fujimi version, and with any luck that will be finished tomorrow.

Model on!

  3. Excellent work. I have a soft spot for the Panzer IV. It was such a workhorse vehicle and proved so versatile and durable.

    1. Spot on Lee, the best thing about the MkIV was the ability to constantly upgrade to meet the changing situations and new weapons.

  5. A very old kit, but one I'm still very fond of. I remember it being one of my later Airfix tanks as it was a Series 2 kit and sold for an outrageous £0.46 - as compared to Series 1 at £0.32. A serious matter in the days when the defence budget was £0.50 per week!

    1. It brings back good times remembering about pocket money budget.

I was always 10 cents off the Airfix figures in the tall boxes...However I always managed to find the extra cash in the sofa or car.

      Good times Tim.

  6. I'm reading your blog and watching models from HMMWV's to PZ. IV's and your figure and I'm wondering how and when you are finding time to do all your stuff...?

Abrams and Pz.IV look very nice. If I wouldn't have my KGN project now with A LOT of minis and models I'd probably be painting some cold war models too :) Love your work!

    Cheers

    1. Thanks Thomas, the basic answer is that I multi task.

I work on 4 or projects at one time, spending around 1-2 hours a day if I am lucky. Some days are better than others.

I seem to be able to live on four or so hours a sleep a night.

I think it helps that I do not watch a lot of TV either.I believe if you have a real passion for this type of thing you just seem to find time.

Just quietly I also do a bit of work on the blog side of it at work.

      Cheers Paul.

  10. Too true Al, honestly the fujimi ones are better detailed by just as brittle.
