Dragon 1025 HUMMWV

This is the third HUMMWV to come off the table so I must be halfway through.
I have had this for a few years and stalled after making the chassis, in fact there are two of them with this Dragon kit being a twin kit. Since the rest were on the bench I decided to finish them as well. Its a nice kit with well detailed parts, just right for me to mess up. The wheels were the only issue I had here with the fit being extremely tight and I managed to damage one of them.
After masking I gave it a base coat of black then another coat of Olive Drab 2. Those Tamiya Mini spray cans are a great time saver.
Normal weathering and a couple of vehicle decals. I had a lovely range of weapons to mount, but stuck with the M2 .50 Cal so I could use them for other applications.
 Finished article.
The top of the kit does not fit too well with the body but it could be worse.
Another one down at least. Light Infantry Units and Combat teams are set to receive some transport at last.

Model on!

  2. Can't get over how easy you make it look Paul. Very good work mate. BTW is that the old Airfix Waterloo farmhouse I see in the background?

  4. Cheers Jonathan, spray has its good and bad points. Looking at your 1/35th Challenger II I do not think you have any problems.

  5. I try and keep things simple Rodger, hence the Blu Tac.

Yep the Waterloo Farm House is an old standby for props and gaming. Monty complained about the Airfix Forward Command Post in a few of the previous posts.

    Regards Paul

  6. Thanks Irqan. Mud can hide lots of defects as can Camo nets...The second Dragon HUMMWV will show that.

  9. Great job with the paint Paul, I did not know Dragon made a double kit of one of these. I'll have to look for one sometime. Ben.

  11. Hi Ben, Dragon have lots of kits in the HUMMWV series, all twin packs.

    Four at least.

  12. Another day, another HUMMWV.....
I once met a chap who had served in BAOR and claimed that a US Army Colonel offered a HUMMWV as a swop for his Landrover. He eventually got the bidding up to 3 HUMMWVs...

  13. Cheer up Tim, sounds like you are sick of the Hummerfest already.

No fear, plenty more HUMMWV action on the way.

We were just glad to get rid of our Landies, they were poked in a bad way.

  16. Although I'm currently not modelling at all, I remember using an old net curtain suitably cut to make camo-netting. Stained and partly flocked as appropriate, they can look good deployed but especially so rolled up or folded.

    1. Good idea Steve, I mainly use a piece of gauze bandage and spray paint it.
