Fujimi Pz.Kpfw. IV Makeover

For the second post today I have a makeover of a Fujimi Panzer IV Ausf. J.
I was doing a little sorting earlier tonight and I came across a couple of Fujimi Panzer IV that I made about six years ago. This is the first one. Completed to a reasonable degree, but possibly the cleanest tank ever to grace a game table. I had not painted the rims of the wheels either having assumed that the later rims were all steel. This was a mistake.
So I painted the rims and gave the whole tank a black wash. Not entirely happy with the outcome but it does look better I think.

Sorry about the quality of the shots, but it was far too hot in the loft to hang about.
One down, and another to go.

Model on!

  1. The black wash certainly brings up the detail and makes it look better. Always liked the Pz IV with the skirt armour. Nice work Paul.

    1. Thats true Rodger, maybe a little too much though. I think with the next one I will try a brown wash and look at the difference.

The side skirts really to rock!

  2. You're clearly having a busy day. I really wouldn't lose any sleep over the colour of the roadwheel rims on a 20mm tank though...

    1. Not so busy Tim, I only spent about two hours over the whole day up there, but man it was about 30 degrees and I was sweating!

Normally I would agree, however the Yellow colour of the tank makes it stand out like dogs bollocks.

      Thats what I think anyway.

      Cheers Paul

  3. Very good painting, I am not quite to the point of coming "across a couple" of tanks. My stash IS getting close though.

    1. Not some much good painting, but rather simple painting and quick brushing of wash Ben.

Stash's get better with age mate!

  4. Nice one Paul. I paint my armour like this too but after the black wash is dried out I very lightly dry brush over with the original light colour. Picks the sharp edges out a real treat.

  6. February is the West Coasts real Summer Tim, you have to remember in a rainforest the other seasons are basically rain.

    Just like the old country.
