Panzer-Grenadier Pioneer Battalion Company 1

Coming out of the suckfest that is this week (my apologies for the lack of comments on other blogs but I am snowed under), I have made little progress on the Jagdpanzers other than some cleaning up. I have however made rather sterling movement in the same direction with my first of three Engineer Companies of a Panzer-Grenadier Pioneer Battalion.

This started off after Tim Megablitz Gow sent some old ESCI DAK figures down under. Having never come across these before my first impressions were that they would make great Engineers. So the dye was set...
Command Stand with ESCI DAK on the left and a Revell Engineer on the right. The Zeltban is a nice touch and it was the first time I had tried to paint the pattern.
More mine action with ESCI DAK again on the left and this time a Matchbox DAK on the right. A great set of poses, with the Matchbox figure having a nice crouch to his gait, and the ESCI figure making a perfect Pioneer with a ET and mine.
This Platoon with once again ESCI on the right, and a Late War German Infantry flamethrower on the left. A greatcoat makes good sense when operating one of these beasties.
The Weapons Platoon with a Heavy MG mount. Revell DAK.
The whole Company. I have the other two Companies almost complete so they should be showing up in the weekend.

Model on!

  1. Nice work Paul!
Good mix of figures. Matchbox's DAK is one of my favourite kits!

    1. Thanks Thanos, not to your standard bt they do the trick. The Matchbox poses are quite lovely and only let down by some stumpy weapons I think.

  8. Very nice - and maybe I ought to resurrect my unused pack of Revell Assault Engineers at that. I've heard that pack heavily criticised as including figures from early and late war which, I gather, aren't reconcilable. But there may be an upside to this: an engineer company can be built up for both periods from the one pack.

You have given me an idea for my next posting, Paul: my assault boats...

    Cheers,
    Ion

    1. Hi Ion, I have heard no bad feedback on them. The do look mid to late war, but it is not unreasonable to include the earlier period attire here as it was still issued until it ran out.

I have mine mid to late war due to the short boots, but being engineers they could be in a working dress with pants unbloused .

I still need to work on a Bridging Company, bt look forward to seeing yours.

      Regards Paul
